The main causes of erectile dysfunction

Men suffering from erectile dysfunction may gain firm erection but cannot sustain it for long during intercourse. Their penis becomes soft and they tend to lose their erections before penetration thereby making the sexual act incomplete and this leads to frustration, depression and ruined relationship. Erectile dysfunction is more common in middle-aged people and older people than young men the reason being that the muscles, nerves and fibrous tissues around the penis become weak.  If it happens in young men it can be due to certain physical and psychological factors.  This sexual disorder where the man is unable to penetrate deep into her leaves both unsatisfied and unhappy.

Common clinical factors that cause erectile dysfunction include obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and blocked blood vessels. Other factors responsible for erectile dysfunction are long intake of prescription medications, excessive use of tobacco, too much alcohol, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, low testosterone levels and injuries that harm the pelvic or spinal area. Depression, anxiety, stress, tiredness, lack of confidence, indifference to sex, disinterest in eroticism and lack of sexual stamina are some of the other factors that can also lead to erectile dysfunction. Lack of blood flow to the arteries and veins that regulate the erectile function of the penis also causes weak erections. Continued bicycling is another major cause of erectile dysfunction as long period of bicycling compresses nerves thereby limiting the flow of blood to the penis which to penile numbness and erectile dysfunction.  Men who are addicted to smoking are more prone to suffering from erectile dysfunction than others are.
