Physiological causes of Erectile Dysfunction:

Erectile dysfunction is the disturbance in erectile function of the penis. It develops when the loss of erection and fall of the penis are frequent during sexual intercourse leaving the partners with unsatisfied sexual experience. It may also refer to the inability of male sex organ to penetrate deep into the female sex organ. Even if it is common to middle aged and old men, it may occur to the young. It is a serious concern for young persons who are about to embark on a relationship that entails sex.

Causes
The arousal of male sex organ is an intricate process that involves the interaction of the brain, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, hormones and emotions. Their improper interaction often results in erectile dysfunction.
The flow of blood to two cylindrical and sponge-like structures of the penis straightens and stiffens the penis to produce a firm erection when you feel sexually aroused. The sustained arousal of sex maintains the flow of blood into the penis that in turn, keeps the penis firm and sustains the erection. Inadequate blood flow to the penis leads to erectile dysfunction.

An erection lasts as long as you delay to ejaculate. After ejaculation, the sexual desire passes and the blood flows back from the penis. As a result, the penis loses its erections and falls down. Therefore, premature ejaculation often leads to erectile dysfunction.
Prolonged bicycling is another major cause of erectile dysfunction. Pressure from sitting on a bicycle seat over a long period of bicycling, compresses nerves that in turn, limits the flow of blood to the penis. It leads to penile numbness and erectile dysfunction.

Immoderate smoking restricts the flow of blood to the arteries and veins that regulate the erectile function of the penis. Men who are addicted to smoking are more prone to suffering from erectile dysfunction than others are.
